Among other issues, the Report submitted by Italy to the Human Rights Committee focuses on initiatives taken at the national level on migration, improving the judicial system, including expediting judicial proceedings, reduction of prison overcrowding and rights of detainees, strengthening of judicial guarantees, closure of psychiatric hospitals, establishment of the national preventive mechanism foreseen by the Optional Protocol to the Convention against torture, Roma integration and gender equality.
