The Italian Report illustrates many legislative novelties, further implementing the Code on equal opportunities between women and men, adopted by legislative decree No. 198/2006 to improve gender equality de jure and de facto. Among them, legislative decree No. 80/2015 for reconciliation between care, work and family life, law No. 2/2015 which amended Article 635 of the Military Organization Code on the physical parameters for the recruitment by Armed Forces, law No. 65/2014 guaranteeing the fair representation of gender in the elections to the European Parliament. Italy also ratified the Lanzarote Convention, the Istanbul Convention and is the first non-American country to sign the Belém do Pará Convention concluded under the auspices of the OAS in 1994.
