Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, Consideration of reports submitted by States parties under Articles 16 and 17 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, Fifth periodic reports of States parties due in 2009 – Italy (E/C.12/ITA/5, 10 October 2013)

The Report, covering the period from 1 January 2005 to 31 December 2009, contains information provided by Italy on the national implementation of the Covenant, and observations by the Committee. It is structured according the Convenant’s dispositions, by analyzing in particular the issues identified by the Committee, such as: respect for self-determination (in the development cooperation policy); non-discrimination and gender equality; situation of Roma and Sinti communities; illegal jobs, workers protection, working conditions, training for individuals with special needs, right to strike and trade unions (including the armed forces, the police and public administration); social security system; protection of the family and children; standard of living and poverty, with a special focus on housing, right to food and water; health; primary and secondary education.
