The Italian government presented his comments on the Report drafted by the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, following his visit to Italy from 3 to 6 July 2012. In a first document of 18 September, the government provided some precisions on the topics of the Roma and Sinti human rights, and on the action undertaken in favor of asylum seekers, including the establishment of special reception centres (CARAs); the government also explained that medical assistance is provided in Italy also to non-Italian citizens, and regardless of their status of legal or illegal immigrants. Through a second document of 8 November, the Ministry for Justice gave further information on certain national measures aimed at reducing the excessive length of proceedings, including modifications introduced by law No. 134/2012 to the fair compensation regime established by so called “Legge Pinto”.
